Winter Blessing

Do you live in an area where winters sometimes seem to last forever?

The primary signature of this salve is joy. It is meant to provide warming comfort and it is particularly lovely if you apply some before meditation.

Ingredients:

  • St Johns Wort infused oil: 4 oz

  • Arnica infused oil: 4 oz

  • Refined Shea Butter: 16 oz

  • Vitamin E oil: 1 Tbsp

  • Beeswax pellets: 7 oz

    Essential Oils:

  • Ginger: 2 tsp

  • Rosemary: 2 tsp

  • Clove: 2 tsp

  • Peppermint: 2 tsp

  • Eucalyptus: 1 tsp

  • Lemon Eucalyptus: 1 tsp

  • Camphor: 1 tsp

  • Lavender: 1 tsp

  • Frankincense: ½ tsp

  • Myrrh: ½ tsp

Method:

Combine on the stovetop in a large, deep, heavy-bottomed pot over low heat. Watch carefully; the mixture is not meant to simmer or boil. Stir gently.

Remove from heat as soon as the beeswax pellets and shea butter are melted.

Pour into jars until cooled. Cover with lids. Store in a cool place. Skin test before use.

Safety note: Whenever you make a product to apply to the skin do a simple allergy test, a “skin test” before use. Apply a small amount on a small area on the inside of your wrist and wait 24 hours. If a rash, redness or itchiness results at any time in the 24 hours do not use it any further. Doing a skin test is important for anything you make for yourself, but its even more important for anything you share with another person. Also, be aware that essential oils are better tolerated by adults than children. The recipes you’ll find on my website are all meant for adult use. Significant adjustments have to be made for use with children.
